SOUTHAMPTON, Bermuda (AP) — Camilo Villegas ended a long and emotional drought when he came up with key birdies down the stretch Sunday for a 6-under 65 to win the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, his first victory since losing his 22-month-old daughter to cancer in 2020.Villegas went shot for shot with Alex Noren for five hours until all he had left was a tap-in for par for his first PGA Tour title since 2014.He stood erect, lightly pumping his fist, and then looked skyward before Latin players rushed onto the green to celebrate. Villegas grabbed one bottle of bubbly and took a swig.More than going nine years without winning, Villegas and his wife coped with the death of Mia, who died of brain cancer in the summer of 2020. Villegas was lost on the course and finished last year at No. 654 in the world. Now he has a two-year exemption and returns to the Masters and PGA Championship for the first time since 2015. MALMO, Sweden (AP) — Malmo became Swedish champion for the 23rd time on Sunday by beating title rival Elfsborg 1-0 on a second-half penalty taken by league top scorer Isaac Kiese Thelin. The win meant Malmo caught up with Elfsborg on points in the final round of the season and won the Swedish league on a better goal difference.Elfsborg missed a chance to secure the title in the penultimate round last week when they only managed a draw against last-place Varberg, which left the gap to Malmo at three points. After a scoreless first half in Malmo, the second half was delayed by about one hour after fans set off pyrotechnics that triggered the fire alarm inside the packed stadium.Malmo took the lead 11 minutes into the second half when Kiese Thelin was awarded a penalty and took it himself to score his 16th goal of the season.Malmo has the most league titles in Swedish football ahead of IFK Goteborg, which had a poor season and barely escaped a relegation playoff by scoring in second-half...Occupied vehicle struck outside ONE Gentlemen’s Club in Miami, police say; no injuries

It is one of five superbugs identified in 2019 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as "urgent." They are so-called "superbugs" because they are hard to kill with existing drugs. In 2022, the CDC reported there were 2,377 clinical cases and 5,754 screening or colonization cases -- where the fungus was present but had not caused an infection -- in the U.S. In Nevada alone, there were 384 clinical cases reported, more than any other state (California was close behind at 359). (The Hill) - The House may consider a resolution this week that aims to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas after a push by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to do so, according to the chamber's schedule of measures it plans to consider. The Mayorkas impeachment resolution was listed under measures the chamber "may" consider. The House will meet starting Monday this week, where it also needs to pass a measure that will fund the government past Friday.Greene moved to force a vote on the matter last week, which accuses Mayorkas of “willful admittance of border crossers” and says he has a duty to protect the U.S. from an “invasion.” The Georgia lawmaker also accuses the Biden administration Cabinet secretary of violating the Secure Fence Act, a 2006 law that demands perfection at the border by declaring the border operationally secure only if no people or contraband improperly enter the county. Beavers are influential. By cutting trees and damming streams, these rodents change the world around them, raising water levels and creating habitats for diverse plants, insects, fish and more. They are some of the world’s best-known ecosystem engineers, a term for species that produce outsize effects on their environments.Wolves are powerful. As apex predators, their facility at killing reverberates down the food web, and their direct effect on prey species may affect vegetation, other animals and even how streams flow.So what happens when an apex predator meets — and eats — an ecosystem engineer? This clash-of-titans question underlies a study published Wednesday in Proceedings of the Royal Society B that investigated how wolves affect beaver activity, and thus forest composition, in Voyageurs National Park in northern Minnesota. The study found that wolves attack beavers that strike out farther from their homes; thus they limit the extent to which beavers can down trees and transf...Latest news
